It's BEAN awhile...
It's BEAN awhile...

I got to go on splits with my beloved trainer Sister Bean
this week! Definitely felt a great sense of nostalgia talking about our futures
(don't know if that makes sense haha), riding our bikes down busy streets and
taking every chance to talk to people. It's a little sad knowing this is the
last time we'll work together as missionaries because she's going home this
transfer! It's unreal how fast time flies on the mission. It seems just like
yesterday I was a brand new missionary and constantly having to be saved by
Sister Bean. #forevergrateful
LET'S PRAY WITH HIM!
Sister Jacobson had a neat experience recently where we
prayed with a man after meeting him the first time. We met Hideya san sitting
at a picnic table outside his apartment. As we approached him, he greeted us
with a friendly smile. It was the first time he's ever met anyone of the LDS
faith so he had several questions about what we believe. He shared how he's
been dealing with health challenges lately and expressed hope in finding
comfort. We talked about the nature of God, how He is our loving Heavenly
Father and how we can converse with Him through prayer. This was all new to
him, but he listened intently and followed us as we folded our arms, bowed our
heads and closed our eyes. We poured out our hearts to the God, thanking Him
for guiding us to Hideya San and to bless him as he faces his health
challenges. After we closed, Hideya San looked up at us with wet eyes and
thanked us for offering a prayer on his behalf.
This experience has strengthened my testimony on the power
of prayer. It's a simple act that if done sincerely and with pure intent, can
draw upon the powers of heaven. It can lead people to develop a relationship
with God and be partakers of His miracles.
Never underestimate the power of prayer.
After two transfers we finally stumbled upon the red gate of Hichinohe! |
One thing that I love about our missionary purpose is our
role in helping people have their own spiritual experiences, to gain their own
testimonies, to develop their own personal relationship with the Savior. As we
help others on their road to conversion, we can find ourselves walking right
beside them. We too can draw closer to Christ with every step. We too will
become converted to the gospel.
Church is true!
Love,
Sister Matsuura
