The Miracles Continue!

Hello from Morioka!
We all went to separate zones πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜
It`s been an eventful week here in the mission field! Lot of changes took place. It was so sad to say goodbye to Sister Burrows, Howell and Jeong, but I'm also excited to start working with three new sisters in Morioka!

THE MIRACLES CONTINUE
The biggest miracle this week was Nakata San coming to General Conference! He attended the Sunday morning session and remained alert the entire time. He sang along to the hymns and echoed the loudest "Amen!" following each speaker. He especially loved Elder Ballard`s talk on the "Redemption of the Dead" and felt peace through its message. After receiving the news of his daughter`s death two months ago, he was devastated. Little by little as he`s continued learning about Jesus Christ and the power of the Atonement, he has been able to gain a renewed sense of hope! After General Conference, he marveled at the peace he felt and expressed his desire to become a disciple of Jesus Christ for the remainder of his life. He thanked us for introducing this wonderful gospel to him! Please continue to keep Nakata San in your prayers 😊.

MY NEW COMPANION
Sister Cromar is my new companion who happens to be from REXBURG IDAHO! I consider myself so blessed to have been able to work with two Idahoan sisters in the mission! Sister Cromar is so full of energy and has a great love for missionary work. She ran track and cross country in high school and did ballet for 14 years. So yes, she's super athletic. She`s also IN LOVE with Japan and isn't afraid to talk to everyone on the streets! I'm excited to be working this transfer with her!
My new comp Sister Cromar from Rexburg, Idaho!

Here's a little more about Sister Cromar

Favorite thing about Japan?
"The people! I like them more than my family and I love my family."

Favorite food?
"I really like chicken alfredo! It's so oishii! I especially love it when my mom makes it because she puts broccoli bits in it."

Biggest fear?
"Dogs! My neighbors owned these huge pit bulls. One day when I was six, I was playing outside when one of the dogs started chasing me. As I was trying to climb into a truck for cover, the dog bit my leg. I was traumatized. "

Role Model?
"Sister Matsuura!" <-- I support this.

Favorite Scripture?
"Alma 26:12"

ISRAEL, ISRAEL GOD IS CALLING
We housed into a Buddhist man (story of every day as a missionary in Japan). But this time we somehow started up a pretty good discussion with him. The topic eventually led to hymns  and then out of no where he started singing the tune to "Israel,  Israel God is Calling." We joined in and here we were γƒΌ two missionaries and a Buddhist man singing a a hymn on his doorstep. We invited him to church to come sing more hymns. He said he would when he had time!

Thats just a little rundown of this week! Thank you so much for all your prayers.

Where is Sister Matsuura going?

Hello!
Every time we tried to put this guy down he kept trying to jump back on to our shoulders!

Just a short one this week to let everyone know about transfer calls!

I'm staying in Morioka for my fourth transfer! I don't know the name of my new companion yet, but she`s currently on a plane flying from America! I'll introduce her next week 😊.

My heart is breaking over having to say goodbye to Sister Burrows and Sister Howell. The three of us have been together for three transfers so it's hard to see them go... But I know they are going to work hard and see so many miracles in their next areas!

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!

Church is true!

Love,
Matsuura Shimai

The Endo Family, Typhoon Book of Mormon Challenge and DODGEBALL

Just a little overview of what has happened the past couple weeks!

THE ENDO FAMILY
We found a wonderful family who we were able to meet two times. The mother is an angel and he has the two cutest little boys. She worked with someone who was LDS back in her college days and was familiar with our teachings. We taught them a lesson on families and gave them a copy of "The Family Proclamation". She said she has alot of respect for our teachings and would be interested in continue learning more!

In other news, we had a typhoon! Don't worry it wasn't a bad one, but it made streeting a bit exciting.

THE TYPHOON BOOK OF MORMON CHALLENGE
Every week we make a goal to pass out a certain number of Book of Mormons. It was the last day of the week and there was a huge typhoon predicted to hit. Most folks were inside their homes preparing for the oncoming storm. With a couple hours remaining and two BOMs to pass out, we frantically started knocking on doors. People thought we were crazy and told us we needed to head home NOW. As the winds started to pick up, we decided our only other option was streeting. We picked the busiest street near our home and began searching for our lucky Book of Mormon recipients. We passed out the first one pretty quickly, but the second one became a challenge. People were dodging us, racing to get home as soon as possible. We walked the same street for two hours getting rejection after rejection. Then off in the distance we saw two young high school-aged boys. They thought we were crazy, but listened to our message and one of them accepted our Book of Mormon! Miracles!

Speaking of miracles, President Sekiguchi organized another party for all us missionaries.

MISSION-WIDE PARTY ROUND 4
We had an intense game of dodge ball - North against the South (Northern missionaries won obviously). Other than getting smacked in the face really hard, it was a great time! I also got to play racquet ball and tennis with Ishikawa Shimai so that was fun.

All the sisters!

MOM'S BIRTHDAY
Shout out to mom for having a birthday this week on the 5th! Be sure to congratulate her via Facebook, line or messenger. She loves the attention ;).

So much love for you all!
